Cycling again following a layoff due to illness

I've haven't cycled in anger now for the best part of 12 months due to big problems with with my leg and knee - now thankfully sorted - so when I restart it will effectively be from a zero-base. I'm also about a stone above ideal weight :o

I want to be up for doing the Wicklow 100 in June and want to get my much missed fitness back. What sort of a regime should I be looking at training to reach the required level? I prepared for and completed the ROK a few years back when I was fitter but I reckon I'm some way below the level I was when I started my prep for the ROK then.

Again any advice or pointers on how I should proceed would be appreciated! :)

How about looking up and following the ROK training guide? That should get you well set up for the Wicklow.
