There is a turn coming from St Gabriel's Road (church on right) onto Mount Prospect Ave. There is a Stop marking on the road and a yield sign also. Do I stop in first due to road marking (there is a bend to the right) or do I proceed in second if clear. Just want to know if I go this route.

In day to day driving, I would stop briefly there, they belt around that bend. Knowing Raheny testers as well as I do, they are very fond of sticking it to you for 'failure to make progress', but I would still be careful at that yield.

Yeah that's a tricky one dont know if council forgot to take down the yield sign or cover over the stop marking. With testers hard to know mark for progress if you stop and mark for hazardous driving if you proceed. Just have to be careful I was coming up there one day and a bus bombed it round the corner it's a bit of a blind spot so think if I see nothing coming either sides will go quick and not hesitate, and stop if I do. Judging your own reaction to hazards

The way I'd look at it is potentially being marked for failure to make progress in that situation is surely a grade 2 fault at most, whereas being under-cautious could lead to a grade 3. Err on the side of caution would be how I'd approach that one.

Is the word STOP written on the road?

If so, I'd be advising my pupils to STOP

Yep Stop written on road with a yield sign

If there is a solid white line across the road at the junction, I would advise to STOP, otherwise risk a grade 3 (fail) for failing to stop.
That junction can be dangerous at times.

Hey OP, I asked an ADI about this today. He is familiar with the area and the issue. He said if there is a stop sign, or the word STOP on the ground, you are to come to a complete stop. You will be given a Grade 3 mark if you don't. A Grade 3 mark is an automatic fail. A Stop sign over rides all other signage.

After that, you proceed with the caution due to a tricky intersection/bend in the road, or give way as the Yield sign may indicate you are to do. But you do all that AFTER you have stopped for a least 2 seconds. If a really, really picky tester thinks that you were being too hesitant, you may get dinged for failure to proceed/progress. But if you do, that is only a Grade 2 mark. That is not the automatic fail that a Grade 3 mark is.

He also said that the Raheny test area has a lot more junctions with conflicting signage, just like the one that you are talking about. So keep an eye out for more of them, if you are doing your test in the area.
