    Good Afternoon Boardies,

This year our fund raising efforts are in aid of St. John’s cancer ward in Crumlin Children’s Hospital. On average, 160 new cases of childhood cancer are diagnosed in Ireland each year.Tragically, more than 20% of the unfortunate children afflicted will not bealive five years later. Below is a link which will give you a bit more informationon why we are fundraising to help St. John’s Ward.

Our cycle this year takes place on Saturday the 10th of May 2014 starting at the DublinMail Centre, Oak Road, Dublin 12 and finishing in the Kilkenny delivery depotin the Hebron Industrial Estate, Kilkenny. The route takes us to Naas,Kilcullen, little detour to the Curragh, back to Kilcullen and then on to Kilkenny via Carlow and Bagenalstown, just under 130KM. Stopping points at present are the Curragh and Carlow but these stops along with the route may be altered or tweaked.

    Route is below

    Participation costs are asfollows:

This price is based in the Hotel Kilkenny per person B&B sharing a twin or double room.

€25 if you wish to participate in the cycle including a commerative cycle jersey, snacks/lunch on the day and insurance, but wish to either come back to Dublin after the cycle or make your own hotel/B&B arrangements.

Best of luck with the cycle - it's a great cause. I'm away on scout camp that weekend so can't join you but once the Galway cycle is over I'll join you for some training at the weekends.

    Cheers Orion,
Ahhh, Scout Camp, that takes me back to the 29th Blackrock CBSI & trips to Curraghcloe in 84 & "Portmudna" 85 and hikes around Glencree.
Anywho. there's 10 weeks between now & the cycle & I'm upping the route I am doing from 48kms to 68kms. Maynooth to Kilcock to Enfield to Prosperous back to Maynooth, looking at 23-25kms per hour.(optimistic to begin with) your more than welcome to spin along!

@Bloggsie, do you have a webpage for this event, or more info? With the references to mail centres, is this an event being run by an Post staff or the CWU? Cheers
