also is the theory test a 2 part jobby now or is it the 35 questions out of 40 test similar to the car test?(or maybe its all changed to a 2 part test)

ok heres a bit of info to clear this up-

according to the ndls just now on the phone -because i sat a theory test before 2006(namely i done a motorcycle theory test in 2003-which i forgot about !) i DO NOT need to apply for a theory test to get my learner permit for artic licence, because before 2006 one theory test done all categories!
so......if u done a theory test for any categorie vehicle before 2006 you DO NOT have to do a theory test to go from C licence to get your learner permit for EC licence

I did my theory test in 2004 for the car, does this mean I did not need to go and do the category C theory test last year???

Done my theory test in 2003,all i got was the car and bike.a seperate test used get the truck and bus.i reckon you need to do the theory test unless your provisional artic licence expired less than 5 years ago,if you held one that is,further more i had to sit theory tests for the truck and bus in 2011/12,if what you were saying was true am i not entitled to be refunded?please provide a link to what you are saying please?surely the NDLS/RSA would make that info openly available were it true?

No hassle,i've started from scratch with the bus and truck licences + the cpc's,next step the artic licence,op are you working or on the dole???there's a grant available for the unemployed!

OP if you got the C licence prior to Sept 2010 as far as I know you are exempt from having to do any theory test,As you would have what is known as grand father rights which means since you all ready hold a C licence you just have to do the CPC yearly course.
I haven't had dealings with the NDLS cowboys and it will be a few years before I do if I was you get them to look in to it again.

I think you're confusing the Theory for acquiring a Learner Permit to move up to Artic and acquired rights for Cpc. A person who hasn't previously done a theory test in Cat C (eg held a Lic since 97) must do a theory test to acquire a learner permit for CE. They don't need to do Initial CPC (theory tests and practical) but should now have completed 4 of the 5 truck Cpc Modules

this is the email i was sent by them this morning

    Dear %%%%%,

I can understand your frustration, I do agree with you everything is very expensive, unfortunately the theory test you completed did not cover the C categories. If you wish to take out a learner permit in the CE you will need to do the theory test first.

What NDLS centre were you dealing with as we would need to inform them of the correct information so that this will not happen again?

    Regards

no i think ur confused with cpc's.i have all the cpc's done aswell(what a load of tripe too)all of which came outa my own pocket.
between drivers cards, licences, cpc's,if i was starting out i would not bother with the whole truck/bus thing,i know lads that are driving buses for 60 a day and im sure there are plenty of truckers who do the same........it used to be if u had a truck licence u could have a list of jobs but now every tom, dick, remus has them :pac::pac::pac:
