Self-esteem

I pretty much have no self-esteem and have not done for about 10 years now (am 30+). Sometimes it picks up, but it's always brief. I feel good at my job, and invariably - it doesn't really last or sink in. I'm very much avoid of social or other relationships at this point. Too scary.

I've seen therapists at different points over the years and found this helpful. I don't know how to turn things around. Right now, for example, if someone were to compliment my inner voice would want to tell them to feck off.

I don't want to sound flippant or jokey here, but my advice to you is tell your inner voice to feck off. Seriously. You've seen therapists, so you must know by now that the biggest battle is the way you look at yourself. You say that when your SE picks up, it doesn't last or sink in.....your inner voice comes back up (I assume) to beat you up again. Tell it to feck off. And good luck....those inner voices can be hard-ass, but don't forget who's boss.

Go back to your therapist to get some tools to learn how to build yourself up.

As a matter of interest, where is the best place to start looking for help in relation to self-esteem issues? I am rarely physically unwell and the last GP I visited is deceased. Should I just pick another GP in my area to discuss my issues with or is there somewhere else I can go?

    Thanks in advance.

Just pay a visit to your local GP - if your previous GP is deceased then it's time to find a new one anyways. They should be able to refer you to a counselor in the area.
