Really confused about BTEA

I have multiple questions/concerns that I would like help with if anyone can help!

Currently working part time and in a level 5 course with intentions of getting accepted to a 2 year level 6 thereafter. 21y/o

I am not in receipt of any social welfare receipts.

I would like to claim BTEA in order to focus on college as I can see this particular course being very hectic in conjunction with the line of work I am in at the moment, and would like to excel at it.

Will I have to quit my job with 3 months to spare claiming dole before the course commences? I can't seem to find the deadline date for the BTEA anywhere on the internet either. Some friends in college at the moment claim to not even have been claiming dole and still being accepted for the BTEA, is this even possible? I have a feeling their parents may have helped and those details may not have been disclosed to them during the process. Or can I go about it by claiming jobseekers benefit whilst being employed 3 days of the week?

What is the likelihood of being accepted for BTEA presuming one has all the perquisites?

If there's any other details you feel I should know please do tell. Thanks!

    details here: http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/back_to_education/back_to_education_allowance.html

With regards qualifying period you just need to be on a social welfare payment immediately prior to applying for BTEA so if you were on the dole for a week before applying it would be fine so long as you meet the 3 or 9 months qualifying period.

the 3 or 9 month period is out of the last 12 month so for example you could be on the dole for 8months 2weeks get a job for 3 months then back on the dole for 2 weeks you'd qualify as over the last 12 months you've been on the dole for 9 months.

the figure of 3 months you mentioned is for second level courses but as far as i know a level 6 course counts as a third level course so its 9 months so you should look into that.

the thing your friends might be talking about is the SUSI Grand which is separate from the social welfare

as far as i know with both BTEA and SUSI you get it so long as you meet requirements
