    Hello all,

Could anyone give me some advice on a nice hotel to stay in around Cork? I want to bring the gf down to foto island in April but I don't know Cork at all. One with a spa/not too expensive would be nice.

    Thanks.

Fota is miles out of the city so if you want to stay in the city I suggest the imperial hotel and spa for convienance. The clarion is also very nice but I dont know if there is a spa there. I stayed at fota and it is nice there but you would have to taxi to any other bar or resturant besides the one in hotel.

If you just want to go to Fota and have a spa weekend on the side then stay at Fota Island Resort or Radisson Hotel and Spa Little Island (get train from Little Island to Fota in about 5mins)

If you want to just visit Fota but be located in and around the city itself then stay at one of the following and get the train direct to Fota (10-12mins). Obviously the below depends on budget you have in mind.

    1. Hayfield Mannor (5-7 min walk from city centre, right next to UCC)
    2. Marborough Hotel & Spa (located in Douglas, 5-8 min taxi from city centre)
    2. Clarion Hotel Cork (1-2 min walk from city centre)
    3. The River Lee Hotel (5 min walk from city centre, again near UCC)
    4. Best Western Montenotte Hotel (10-12 min walk from city centre)
    4. Rochestown Park Hotel (located in Douglas, 5-6 min taxi to city centre)
    5. Imperial Hotel Cork (located in city centre on South Mall)
    6. Silver Springs Moran (3-4 mins taxi from city centre, located on main access route into city)
    7. Radisson Hotel & Spa Little Island (12-15 min taxi/train from city centre)

Probably others which I can't recall off the top of my head. All those taxi times are based on very light traffic so maybe add 2-3 mins to each to allow for some delays.

Most of the above have some form of leisure centre/spa facilities. A few of these can be pricey enough at the weekends but offers are available midweek. Either way, you will find something to fit your desired budget.

If You are going to Fota then the Fota Island resort is really good. Hard to beat it. The Spa is top notch

As mentioned above its well out of the City.

If you want a central hotel that of a decent standard i'd recommend the Imperial. Their Spa is easily the best in Cork City Centre

Gresham Metropole in MacCurtin Street, abot 2-3 minutes walk from city centre. Some excellent B&Bs on Western Rd next to UCC, with some good eateries and pubs nearby, most of the B&Bs have onsite parking which some of the hotels don't have. You get directed to nearby multi story carparks.
