Going on the dole to get an internship.

Regarding going on the dole, whats the difference between voluntarily leaving work, getting fired or being let go? Theres a story here so bare with me! Ive been on jobs seekers for just over a year now, trying to get work to no avail. I was only working 2 days a week. So im leaving my job to get an internship to further my skills and hopefully get fulltime employment at the end. But unfortunately I now have to go on the dole for 78 days before i can start an internship. On the social welfare website it says if you leave or get fired you have to wait 9 weeks before getting payment or speak to the deciding officer. Which means ill have to wait 5 months before I can start an internship. Which is madness. So my questions are:
Who is the deciding officer? Will it just be a member of staff from the local office?(and will i have to wait a month at least to see them?). And what is the likelihood of them seeing my situation as good cause to not wait the extra 9 weeks?
Also is there a waiting time when you get let go? Will the social welfare look into if I was replaced in work and question it?
Id be very grateful for any advice i can get. Ive tried my local office and jobs club but theyre not forthcoming with any kind of helpful information

    Hey,

Do you mean you have been working for 2 days a week and getting job seekers for the other days? Or you're going to be starting a new application? If you're already on js, shouldn't you be able to apply for internships already? then you can leave your job to go straight into an internship?

I voluntarily left a job in the uk and applied for js immediately when I came back. I said on the form that I left because I wanted to relocate to Ireland and was expecting to have to explain that further. They didn't bring it up at all in the interview, nothing about a deciding officer and nothing about waiting 9 weeks - no idea why, I was expecting difficulty over it.

What kind of internship are you hoping to get? Very few lead to actual jobs. Stupid, imo, to leave an actual job to go on the dole. I'd just look for another job in the area you're in, maybe in a higher up position - easier to get a job when you have one, etc..
