Can I claim tax relief for my partner?

My girl moved over here last September to live. We live together, she is an Irish Citizen but has spent most of her life living abroad.

She is actively looking for work but its looking unlikely that she will get a job anytime soon. She applied for jobseekers allowance and was told that she had to register as a cohabitant and had to produce my last three pay statements. She was refused based on what I earn.

We are not married and have no plans to change that anytime soon but can I claim her tax allowance?

I have read where this can be done for Civil partners and married couples but I don't believe I fall into those categories or do I for tax purposes?

    No.

If you are not married you have no relationship for tax purposes.
