Hi all.I have a Telestar satellite box. As rte 1, is requesting, I've rescanned my channels, but I'm still getting a message that I need to rescan to retain rte 1 on a new Channel. Anyone know what i should do to keep rte 1?

I assume you have a Telestar digital terrestrial receiver for Saorview, not a satellite receiver?

This would be best discussed over in the terrestrial forum - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=56

Is it a combi Saorview/FTA satellite receiver? Model number?

The channels requiring you to rescan are carried on the Mux1 frequency and are temporary duplicates. They will switch off in early April on March 11th. The proper channels started broadcasting on a new Mux2 frequency a few months ago.

Have you checked the complete list of channels stored, some non-Saorview approved receivers store the Mux2 channels after the Mux1 channels? See here - http://www.2rn.ie/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/UNAPPROVED-EQUIPMENT-HELP.pdf

What type of aerial have you attached to the receiver? If they aren't stored you have a signal reception problem, aerial related maybe. Similar issues posted here since the channels transferred to Mux2.

Delete the old versions and move the new versions into position.
The rescanned versions are stored at the end of the Epg, or if you scroll backwards from ch1 you'll find them.

    Hi all,

Thanks for the help. I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to this stuff. I'm not quite sure i understand some of that! :)the model is TD2220HD-L. So I don't know, is that a combination box? Not sure how I go about deleting the channels?

Any more help appreciated! Thanks again.

The Cush, I'm not sure what aerial type I have. Having read over your post I'm understanding a bit more! Going to have a look at the PDF thanks. Don't think rte 1 is appearing anywhere else.

    Thanks again.

Thanks Gerry, might get into that. Looks complicated! Kbell, actually 1 channel down there is an Rte1!!!! It's called 6945...so I'm hoping that's the new one, so hopefully as The Cush explained that's the mux2 frequency...thanks for the help!

Do you have duplicate RTÉjr and RTÉ1+1 channels?

I probably did. But now I've completely lost everything. Due to reading the saorview PDF, I went to factory default, which has replaced all channels with German ones, which obviously aren't working. I've just lost the lot and can't work out how to get them back.:(

For the Irish channels you have to do a terrestrial tune/scan. Where is your terrestrial aerial located, indoor/outdoor/attic?

There should be an option in the satellite setup menu to do a full satellite scan at 28.2 degs east (Astra 2/Eutelsat/Eurobird) to reinstall all the satellite channels.

Use the "How to Find Satellite Channels with Autoscan & How to Find Terrestrial Channels with Autoscan" here to reinstall the channels.

The TVtrade site I linked to earlier has videos and all explaining how to scan and edit channels on this box. RTFM

The Cush, yes! I'm kinda getting there. Before you had posted, through antenna setting-and choosing satellite 4.astra/euro1 and scanning I got UK channels. Then I scanned for Irish channels under DVB-s scan and I seem to have gotten some mix of everything back! Including rte 1 with no rescan message. I might try how you described exactly also. But it seems I have lots of UK and Irish channels again. Phew!:)

I'm not sure where the terrestrial aerial is. Cable goes to box indoors, which is connected to wires outdoors so, I presume outdoors somewhere?!

Gerry. I looked at all that, and that's how I got to where I am, so I appreciate your help. If RTFM means what I think it does, ok, I had, and like I said, really appreciate the help. Thanks again.

The Irish channels use the DVB-T standard, not DVB-S (satellite standard).

Regarding the aerial, are you in a house or apartment? What is the box outdoors?

    Hi The Cush.

Great, thanks for that. I scanned DVB-T also. So I think I'm all set! Thanks a million for your help! The box I mentioned is in doors. It's a UPC box...the wires from that go outdoors, up the walls and to be honest, it's difficult for me to identify where to afterwards....

Is there an aerial or is the terrestrial signal leaking into the UPC cables i.e. the UPC cable acting as an aerial?
