Can't get a job without experiance?

I am struggling to find part-time work as a student. All I am looking for is maybe to work in a shop or restaurant, just to earn a bit of extra money for saving for college, as well as being able to pay my own way for stuff like nights out, clothes, etc. I hate having to still ask for money off my family as an adult.

On my Cv, the only work experiance I have is the work experiance you get in school in TY, as in maybe doing only one week of work. I have about 4 experiances in total, and that is going years back!

I have given in CV's to shops but have not heard anything.

I just really need advice on this, because I really want to get one, just for the confidence boost as well as the money and experiance.
I have just been stuck in a rut for years, no job, no driving experiance, not much of a social life because it is costly and it is also become harder to meet up with mates at home. I just want something to happen to make me feel like I am moving forward.

Any help is great, thanks :)

Not to take a dig at you, happyviolet, but have you asked someone to take a look over your CV? Spelling mistakes would be one thing that would put your CV to the bottom of a pile of other, better written CVs.

You need to realise that you are not the only person applying to these places, so you need to give yourself every advantage possible over the person who has been in before you, or will come after you.

Are you calling in to businesses in person, and asking to speak with the manager? You need to make an impression, one that will make them remember you... For good reasons ;)

Start with having someone take a look at your CV to edit it, and then go and introduce yourself to people. Something will show up, but you have to go and REALLY look for it. It won't fall into your lap.

I got let go in january and managed to find a within a month after that, in a field in which I have no experience. The following sounds like a load of work, but I believe it paid off.

If the job was in the same town I lived in, I would hand deliver it, instead of emailing.
I put a photo on every CV
Beforehand, I would ring to the store/company and asked whom the letter should be addressed to, and if they had any additional information for me that would come in handy when writing my cover letter(this also makes you look interested to them)

Each CV should be tailored. If you don't have work experience, list everything else that you've done;courses, internships, volunteerwork, anything and put the most relevant ones on top, this needs to be devided according to relevant and less/not relevant.

Ring them after two weeks(unless it's specified that if you don't hear anything after a certain amount of time, you've not been selected) and ask for the relevant person and ask him/her if they got your letter and do they know when the interview stage is planned.

If you're not invited, ask them why and if they can give any feedback on your cv or coverletter. Ask them if they can put your CV on file for any future openings.

Hopefully this can/will help you further. Best of luck.
