En suite tiling advice

    HI,

I've been rewarded with tiling our en suite. I have the old tiles stripped out now. On three sides it was tiled over plasterboard. The three sides are stud walls with 3 inch gap. I want to get rid of the existing plasterboard fill the gap and, reslab and then tile

I've been told to use half inch green board in the shower area and plywood the rest using rockwool to fill the gap. Tile over this

Does this sound good to you guys? Any better ways to do this or other advice greatly appreciated...

A bath or shower tanking kit. You "tank" the ensuite so that any water leaks in the ensuite stay in the ensuite and dont escpae downstairs or to other parts of the house and cause water damage.

Ah right sound, got it now thanks . I actually do have a waterproofing kit too. Didn't know it was called tanking
but what about the slabbing to tile onto?

re the tanking, what about holes in the tanking fabric? Ive yet to read the links, but there must be a hole for the shower drain??
    and
If damp/water leaks into the tanked portion, even though it doesnt get down stairs or the room beneath the en suite, then how does it escape being trapped in the ensuite tanked section?

Im following as I intend to do the ensuite at some stage, so can check back on this,

How would you tank to the door? bit of a gap in the tanking? no?

I was thinking of tiling the entire floor (still using a shower tray) and putting an additional drain into the floor, not sure if its worth it, Ive seen it abroad where trays were in use also, so not wet rooms.

edit, so two of them look like liquids painted on and the other looks like a membrane and sealed/adhesive
