    Hello,

I'm very interested in applying for the Masters in Child and Family Law this coming September. However, as it is a fairly new course I've found it difficult to get any information other than on the UCC website. I eventually plan to qualify as a solicitor after completing a business & law degree in UCD. I was hoping somebody might be able to answer a few questions for me.

What are the job prospects like? Is it possible to work throughout or is the workload too heavy? The website mentions taking part in a family law clinic... Is there any more information available on this? Is there a lot of competition for places?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

did a law degree at UCC myself however your questions are fairly specific so would be tough enough for people to answer on here.
For the full-time masters it would be pretty tough if not very tough to work throughout the course- its pretty full on, more intense than an undergrad- altho im sure your combined course was busy enough- the assignments would require quite a lot of time

as regards job prospects commercial law etc. would be in a better state, and comparatively job prospects in law for new graduates are poor enough to begin with. Career wise it's not the best but if its something you're passionate about go for it! All id say tho is ur setup nicely enough for working in commercial or tax law etc. what with your business element in the degree - i mean obviously you could work outside law too and do an mba in a few years
