    Hi

Son is hoping to go to UL on a Media related course (interested on the equipment side of things) and should he achieve the points - he will need a new Laptop for college.

He likes to do a bit of 'gigging at a mates house' and a bit of mixing music on a Trakktor etc.... and is current using a old Windows 2000 laptop that was handed down the family!

However - what would people in the industry recommend as a new laptop - a Mac or a Windows laptop. Is there must of a cost differance and is it worth going the Apple route???

Excuse my ignorance - but can a Mac get Facebook, watch movies, etc ... I have been a Windows man all my life!

A mac can do all of that, just does it slighty different.

The main thing is software for a PC sometimes does not ship with a MAC version. So he may have a windows only version of Trakktor etc.

Contact the college and see what he will be using there, that might give you an idea.

MAC laptops can be very expensive but if you wanna save a few quid keep an eye on the mac refurb store. Plenty of discounted models on that.
