Dodgy Digital Display

    Hi Guys,
The digital display on my Transit is acting up. The odomoter reading is a bit garbled, see picture. Is this trapped moisture? Or a faulty LCD? Any easy home fixes for it, or does it have to be replaced?

    thanks

Sometimes this is just a matter of the ribbon strip connector at the back of the display needing a jiggle/removal and clean up. It's a common problem on certain cars and can often be a simple diy fix. Removing the plug connector, spraying some contact cleaner in it and on the ribbon end, with maybe the addition of a piece of stiff card inserted into the plug to take up any slack.

Easy to understand when you are looking at it.

Thanks sogood. I'll give that a shot. Does the whole dash console with odometer/speedo etc have to come out to get at this ribbon cable?

Usually they pull out after loosening some screws. What year?

I have no idea as to the accessibility of the instrument cluster. Sometimes you can get at the connector by looking up behind the dash from below, requiring some gymnastics. Or. as previously stated, sometimes a few screws at the front, and often some "hidden" clips to deal with. Sorry I can't be more specific.
