Have a 2010 Renault Fluence. 75,000 kms. Cannot get into gear!!!

    Long story short......
Called Renault Garage because the car is still under warranty. They said to call AA to get AA to deliver the car.

AA guy said he thought the clutch was gone but it could also be the clutch booster?? He then said that there is almost no way that if it is the clutch that's gone that the garage would repair it under warranty.

Now, nothing has been looked at yet by the garage but should I be expecting that they replace a worn clutch that only has 75,000 kms on it??
I don't know what kind of driving was done by previous owned but the majority of my driving is long distance with very little town/city driving. I can't understand how the clutch could be worn. If it was 150,000 km then fair enough but not 75,000km?

Am I looking at a big bill here if the clutch is in fact worn? Have I any leg to stand on? Is there any chance at all that warranty will cover this?

Clutch is not a warranty item in itself but if there was a failure that affected the clutch, that would be covered.
Has it been slipping or is this a sudden failure?
How long have you had the car? If its a case that you bought it last week, well I would be insisting on it being done free. If you have put many thousand km on the car, well they wont be covering it unless its another failure that has destroyed the clutch.

Sudden failure. No sign of slippage at all. Have the car a year. I've put 55,000km of the 75,000 that are on it.

As a sudden failure, I cant see it being a simply worn clutch.
There is a greater possibility that it will be covered I would have thought

What did he mean by "clutch booster", I presume he's talking about the hydraulic clutch release in which case it should be a warranty job.

I don't know much about cars. That's what he said it could potentially be. He said if it was that , then yes, it would be covered under warranty

I'm just asking here about the worst possible scenario for me in that it turns out to be a worn clutch.

Just wondering if you got any joy with Renault as I have a similar roblem?

    Thanks

    hi,

I also have a 2010 Fluence and I have recently started seeing some gearbox weirdness... intermittently, when going from 1st to 2nd gear the change is extremely stiff, quite alarming when sitting in traffic and suddenly can't get out of 1st!

It does change with a bit of a jerk, but after that it's usually fine and normal driving is perfect, this is quite rare. happened maybe 6-10 times in the last month of driving.

I think it would mostly happen when cruising at normal 100kph speeds and then entering a town and slowing down, then sitting in traffic.

again, my car is still under warranty, but they also just told me, if its the clutch then that isn't covered.

any idea how much a Fluence Clutch replacement is ??

    cheers
