What temp would be best for storing wine for up to 1 year?

Assuming its not buckfast but a more expensive brand, is there a general rule?

The most important thing is temperature stability.
    Wiki says anywhere between 7 - 18 Deg C.
I reckon anywhere between 10 - 14 Deg C but somewhere at a constant say 17 is going to be better than somewhere that fluctuates daily between say 10 an 14 . The less light, the better too.

In my house, under the stairs is pretty stable and cool. A wardrobe in an unheated room is often a solution too.
