    Hi,
Currently in the market for a new car.
Have 2 kids under 3 so boot space and reliability as well as running cost are the big considerations.
Mondeo (Hatch), Octavia, Avensis, and Vectra are all options.
Avensis unfortunately isn't an option for us.

Has anyone any opinions on the Vectra?
I've spotted a 07 1.9 CDTi Club 150PS and it looks like it might fit the bill.
What are the drawbacks of this car? Anyone out there own one?

It's a fairly good price from what I can tell probably due to the relative high tax on it but I dont mind paying that for a reliable car tbh.
    Thanks for any advice.

Had one for 3 years, very reliable car in my experience. The only real problem was the suspension - the ride is a bit harsh and you will go through drop links and ARB bushes on a regular basis. These parts are cheap though, especially aftermarket.

Edit: I had a petrol version.

Although there is a plenty of space in the boot the interior is very small. Same goes for Octavia. Look towards Superb/Passat, Citroen C5 or Renault Laguna.

Interior is very bland and boring imo. An awful lot of crappy bog specs out there. I'd be leaning towards a mondeo or an Octavia, although it is from a size class below the rest.

Vectra has a very boring interior. The 6 speed box can be troublesome and their prone to egr problems too. Apart from that their not a bad car at all and they look great imo. Look for a well serviced car and listen for any strange noises, check the gearstick for movement when accelerating in all gears.

why isnt the avensis a option?
Parents have an 08 vectra for the last 5 years. It is 1.8 and she hasnt missed a beat.

I'd probably get the 120 1.9cdti instead I can't remember why but it's the more reliable engine i think it was injector trouble the 150 gave. Believe the one 120 is not a slow car my parents had one in 05-07 new. They loved it my mother still goes on about it to this day. There a very underrated car IMO.
