I do, I think it's important that everyone should, it might help you save a life sometime. For those who don't know any, here's a little bit for starters;

Yeah. It's kind of embarrasing the mis-information out there about CPR due to a dramatic climax in Movies/TV. I only found out a couple of years ago by chance, that the idea of CPR is solely to try and keep blood flowing.

there is also a fairly big chance if done right you gonna crack a few ribs at the least, there has been some lawsuits because of this but in Ireland you are covered under the good samaritan act.

Keep the tune of "staying alive" and pump the chest at the beats (103 a minute) to keep the blood pumping.

Or if you are feeling morbid "another one bites the dust" is the same tempo.

If you ever get a chance to do a course do it, yes you could find it boring etc but you could save the life of someone you love by knowing the basics.

well you did put CPR in the title not CCR

One of the things they taught me in the red cross first aid course was never give anyone your real or at least your full name for this very reason while giving first aid/CPR. Do the right thing until the ambulance arrives then F off.

yeah I can understand why they would say that, better to be safe than sorry but for reference

The 2011 Act essentially provides that good Samaritans will not be personally liable for anything done while assisting someone ill, injured or in danger. Volunteers will be similarly protected from liability when carrying out volunteer work. Of course, there are exceptions and, for example, the protection from liability is lost in the case of malice or gross negligence.

The changes do not introduce into Irish law a duty to intervene. This is in line with the recommendations of the Law Reform Commission, who concluded that, in Irish society, the duty to intervene was of a moral rather than legal quality and essentially should remain that way.

A good samaritan means a person who, without expectation of payment or other reward, provides assistance, advice or care to another person in an emergency, but does not include a person who does so as a volunteer;
Protection 51D.—(1) A good samaritan shall not be personally liable in negligence for any act done in an emergency when providing—
(a) assistance, advice or care to a person who is—
(i) in serious and imminent danger, or apparently in serious and imminent danger, of being injured or further injured,
(ii) injured or apparently injured, or
(iii) suffering, or apparently suffering, from an illness,

or

(b) advice by telephone or by another means of communication to a person
(whether or not the person is a person referred to in paragraph (a)) who is at the scene of the emergency.
