Bringing few Bottles Buckfast to USA?

First, yes, I realize it is a random question almost more suitable for After Hours and not the usual type that is asked here, but figured it most suitable forum to ask - anyhow I was wondering as myself and two friends heading over to a some American friends who were here last year and hoping bring Buckfast which they loved here.

I thought it be no prob until I found out there is a "Ban on Caffeinated alcohol" in America as the FDA declared such drinks a "public health concern"..

What would be the penalty, if any, for bringing some Buckfast over baring in mind we not selling it?

The FDA ban probably only applies to the commercial manufacture and sale of alcohol containing caffeine.

Bring the Buckfast, declare it at customs and pay the duties (it'll probably only be a couple of dollars). If it's not permitted, then customs will simply take it off you. Otherwise once you clear customs after declaring it, you can't get into trouble for it.

Make sure you put it in your checked luggage. You will not be able to bring in the cabin with you.
