Bought a 131 car in Friday and there appears to be a tyre puncture already, I have barely drove it! Reckon I have comeback to ask the dealer to fix it free of charge??

They may do it out of goodwill but IMO aren't obliged to. Punctures happen.

They do but bearing in mind ive onlydriven the car for 15 mins its not exactly likely that i caused the puncture is it?

Who else do you think caused it?

Punctures happen, my last one was a nail straight through. I never drove through a timber yard though. Pay the €5 to get it fixed and move on.

I'd say the car is faulty, you should ask for a refund or replacement.

    Not statistically :)

Its a bit of a let down though on a new car...

Methinks op is more interested in bragging about getting his new car :D

Is there anything to be said for burning the car out?

Unless you drove over a nail in them 15 minutes.

Puncture repair only costs about €10 on average, I wouldn't even bother spending my time going back to the dealer with something like that to be honest. I'd just get it fixed locally and be done with it.

He bought it on Friday ergo it's a new car

    To him :D

need for the smart replies, ill move on just fine.

Sorry chap never meant to be harsh just a bit of banter. Understand the frustration and all but more than likely you drove over something in those 15 miles pain in the arse i know but **** happens (especially when driving). Welcome to the world of driving and stay safe.

Well I'll definitly think twice about posting here again...im actually a woman, anyone fancy making some sexist remarks seeing as youre berating me for asking a question? Thought that was the point of boards, didnt realise it was just a forum for abuse.

Do you want a reeeaaaaalllly small violin to play for you?

Ah lads come on, it's the OP's first car, give her a break.

OP, the puncture could have been there before you bought it or could have just been back luck and was caught on the drive home. A puncture repair is relatively inexpensive and takes about 10 mins to sort by any decent tyre centre. I'd just get it fixed tomorrow, then forget about it and start enjoying your new car.

You have no comeback, I hired a car from my driving school for my first test, drove over a railway and got a puncture, nothing to do with them.

Accept it and move on for Gods sake. It costs feck all to fix

What has your sex got to do with anything?

Also, just to add to what everybody else is saying; you can do a lot in 15 minutes of driving. You could drive over 100 nails in 15 minutes of driving, heck you could run over 10 people in 15 minutes.

OP, I'm sorry but I really don't see how you think/thought that the dealer should be responsible for you getting a puncture - first car or not!

It's a pain when it happens but that's life when you buy a car - stuff WILL break/go wrong, and it WILL cost you money to fix it.

Some of the reactions here are a little harsh, but to be fair, your expectations are completely unrealistic

A few years ago i got a puncture repaired and 5 days later got one again in the same tyre.

    S&@t happens.

I didn't go back looking for a free repair.

Op I don't think ppl are intending to insult u....... but if u think about what ur asking. Its a puncture! Not a mechanical failing or cracked windshield. You could have driven the car fir the next three years and never have got one ..... bonus! But u were unlucky and got one the min u left garage. Perhaps it was the guy in the yard backing it off lorry but so what. . . **** happens and just take the hit! In the scheme of things its not worth the worry.
When I was ten I got a new bike (albeit 2nd hand New ) andbthr first time I rode it I punctured it within the hour. Had to wait for da to come home after work to fix Temporarily bereft but i accepted it as bad luck and moved on! Admittedly in hindsight it was the beginning of a life of letdowns rejection and disappointments but like I said....... I'm not bitter!!!! (Heads to bath with wi

OP I'm a woman and have posted here for at least the past two years, never had a problem with that.

I've asked plenty of questions on here and always gotten sound advice.

As a woman I'd advise you to get more familiar with cars tbh?

The OP has gotten the answer to her query and has requested that the thread be closed.
