Hi, Just wondering does anyone know the story for applying for a 3rd learner permit?

My 2nd one expired maybe 2 years ago but I never applied for a test. The criteria for getting a 3rd permit says that you must evidence of booking/failing a test.

Is there any way of getting a 3rd permit or is it possible for me to start again and just resit the theory test and do the 12 lessons etc. (which I don't mind doing)

I am just not sure from reading the website am I allowed start again with the theory test and a brand new permit because Ive had 2 permits previously and never applied for a test.

    Thanks :)

How were you able to apply for your second permit without showing proof of applying for a driving test? They photocopy all documents like that and attach to your file which is supposed to be checked before processing.

    Thanks,

Tbh I cant even remember, it was over 3 years ago. But I do know that I definitely did not apply for a drivers test ever. When I got my 2nd learners permit I was just renewing my first one because I'd had it 2 years and it expired. I dunno does that make sense?

    Sorry, Im pretty clueless here!

No requirement to apply or take a driving test for 2nd Permit. Applies from 3rd Permit onwards

    Hi,

So does this mean seeing as Ive never applied for a test and its my 3rd permit that I can never apply for a permit AGAIN (AKA never learn to drive!)???

Or does it mean that I have to start from scratch, i.e do the theory test, get my eyes tested???

Sorry for being so clueless :/

As far as I know, you will be able to get a 3rd Permit as long as you apply for a driving test first. I think you will be able to apply for a test even though your current Permit is out of date, then produce proof of this application to your local Licence Office and you should get your 3rd Permit.
It's only when a Permit expired over 5 years ago that you would have to start from the beginning again.
