Any of you using crush head scoops? Any recommendations for any particular make? What sort of prices roughly? Thanks.

Got one from Niall Barrett eng, around €450. Good addition but not perfect. The scoop is a bit wide allowing for movement but you'd still manage to dose a big cow, with a bit of struggle on your own.

neighbour got a Connacht agri one paid €480,he was saying there should have been some instructions for fitting like distance from the crush gate and height of mounting point of scoop,i just finished off the fitting of it yesterday.

What did you think of it otherwise? Is it well built?

they didn't skimp on the steel on the scoop itself, the box iron of the mount could have been better.

We have a Nugent one, very handy especially for the bolus etc. Just beware that you can't claim the vat back on it unless vat registered.

The Nugent one is probably built to integrate easily with their crush gates, yes?

We just happened to be buying a gate at the time as well, but it is attached separately, the guy installing our new crush and pens welded it onto the side of the gate, we had to bore an extra bolt through it the other day as it was moving a bit (cattle being fed in yard rubbing against it).

I would imagine it would work as well on any gate. Its a great job for a one person operation, less stressful on the animals as well.

Could do with an anti-backing bar now on the crush to finish it off.
