If I send away all the required documentation to get my learners permit, how long will it take to get it in my door? I live in Drogheda so I'll be using the offices in Drogheda

The NDLS do NOT accept postal orders or requests. Even if you turn up and forget something you have to return in person and queue again, ie. cannot just post anything in.

Waiting times vary of upto 8-weeks :)

Well done you on passing your theory test!

You can't send your documentation away anymore. You have to show up in person to apply for your license. You used to be able to send all of your paperwork away and do it all by post, but that all changed last autumn. Now, you have to do it all in person.

Once you have done so, there is no hard and fast rule as to how long it will take to get your license. It all depends. You may get it in a couple of weeks, or you may get it in a couple of months. There is no way of knowing really.

In the past few weeks I have spoken to people who just got their permits after a 3 and 10 week wait. Call into the office and you will only know how long the wait is when you get your permit.

My permit arrived today exactly 2 weeks after applying. It was the office in Tullamore I went to and I was told 2-3 weeks so im delighted it arrived so soon.
