    Hi folks,

We're just about to confirm a booking on airbnb and i'm wondering if they take the full payment straight away, or do we just pay a deposit until our stay? We're not going to our destination till October, so I'm slightly apprehensive to be honest.

    hi there,
unfortunately the FULL amount is taken by airbnb at time of booking. they hold on to it until 24 hours after you check-in and then release payment to the owner
the only other thing is to search for the apartment/villa on another site like trip advisor, holiday lettings etc and that way you pay between 20% -30% booking deposit with balance due 6-9 weeks before your holiday
airbnb are a huge company....growing all the time. i've been advertising with them for 2 years....but agree, it's a bit much having to pay the full amount now when you are not going until october...

When I used it back in 2011 you just paid the deposit and the full payment isn't taken until 1 full day into your stay so as to avoid people abusing the system. Having said that I can't remember if you pay straight away and Airbnb hold on to it until that point or it's just the deposit but either way the tenant won't see a penny until a day after you arrive.

EDIT: ah Jocelynel cleared it up while I was posting!

Ya, i googled it, it's booked now anyway, To be honest, the price for NY that we got for 4 of us is about 1k less than most hotels. Looking forward to it now.
With regards to airbnb, Jesus it seems to be a fantastic website and hopefully, we'll get the opportunity to book through it again!!

Jocelynel, you don't have an aul coupon no. by any chance.....just for friends of course ; )..
