I thought an early prediction for the world cup might be interesting especially in comparison with later prediction threads
2 multiple choice poll threads have been set up for groups A to D and groups E to H where you can vote for the 2 most likely teams from each group to qualify to the next stage.
I'll leave the poll up for a week and then set up another thread with a non-multiple choice poll from the selected 16 for you to vote for the most likely to win the world cup.
That poll I'll also leave up for a week

Group winners and runner-ups 547 votes

    A - Brazil

    A - Cameroon

    Colombia & Ivory Coast
    Italy & Uruguay

You're right about the typo vote for Japan as if it's Uruguay and I'll ask a mod to change thew name in group D

    A: Brazil and Croatia

Brazil are favourites to win the competition so I expect them to finish as group winners. Croata have a solid midfield consisting of Kovavic and Modric so should get 2nd.

    B: Spain and Holland.

A group of death here and Chile are definitely no push overs so should give Spain and Holland a good game. Australia will be the whipping boys of this group in my opinion. Spain to finish group winners with Holland runner up.

    C: Columbia and Japan

A gut feeling tells me Japan may get runner up and Kagawa and Honda will be crucial to the side. Columbia have a decent team and a world class striker to help them.

    D: Italy and Uruguay

Another group of death. England will have to put in a game of their lives against Italy and Uruguay to even think of getting to the KOs. Italy in my opinion will finish as group leaders with Uruguay as 2nd unless England pull in a good shift.

Croatia, in Modric and Rakitic, have two of the best midfielders this season. Add in Mandzukic, Olic, Jelavic, Lovren and I think they should be good enough to qualify.

Once Moyes runs Van Persie into the ground, I think Chile will beat Netherlands. Neither have the most convincing defence but Chile seem a better unit/more cohesive which has always been a problem for the Dutch.

Ivory Coast and Japan when Falcao rushes back from injury.

Everyone would be gushing about this England team if they were Belgian. Italy know how to do tournaments. Uruguay aren't as good player for player as the other two but a combination of Suarez, home soil and Hodgsons negativity could see them through.

Think Chile and Cameroon will go through thanks to the conditions

That's going to be some group between Spain, Netherlands, Chile and Australia. Watching Chile tonight v Germany in Stuttgart, got beat 1-0 but a tad more clinical in front of goals and they could have won by a good bit, very impressed with them.
