    Hi

I would really love some help. I am looking to change my 03 Clio for a hatchback medium sized car. I do approx. 800km a week on a motorway so for the first time ever I am after a diesel. I would like to come up in the years as much as I can.

Reliability is king for me and a car that has a bit of a kick.

I would really appreciate if some one would please list some brand/model so I can do some hunting.

My head is melted looking online as I am unsure which cars would be a best buy and it's a lot of money for me to spend if it ends up a dud.

    Thank you.

Your budget would be helpful for recommendations.

Sorry thought I had it in post. It is 11k.

Am open to engine size. But obviously it must be economical

    Kia Ceed 1.6 diesel

Kia Ceed seems expensive. Looks like I could get a 2009 one but a lot of them are nearly out of warranty as their km are coming close to 150k.

Medium sized car with bit of kick, good reliablity, and economical.
I can only think about Civic 2.2 i-CTDI.
That's what I have and I'm more than happy.

Was coming on to say the C'eed myself. Had one as a rental and preferred it to the Golf I had the following week.

Another ceed/i30 vote here, probably ceed as its very hard to find an i30 with cruise control which IMO would be a great help to you.

I'd go with Cee'd too. Out of all the modern small diesels that engine is one of the most reliable.

I was just looking at this ceed and wondered why it is in Mph? I can't rem when KM came in. Can this be changed?

Are all the diesel Ceed only 89bhp? seems a bit slow, no?

A UK import. Also torque is more important for Diesels than BHP.

Same reason it has no reg numbers. Its a uk import.
I wouldn't bother especially with the ecodynamics model. It was of great benefit in the uk for tax reasons but I'd be looking at a 1.6 CRDI 116hp version instead.

Thanks for that. What should I be looking out for?

for the engine I'd agree with what Colm said, plus i'd try to get a genuine Irish car unless you can find the original UK reg to do a vehicle check. I'm always wary of dealers who cover/remove the plates. Be they Irish or UK.
