    Hi Guys

I am moving to Horizon after years with Sky, I have multiroom with Sky and 2 boxes(sky + and old white Sky box). I was going to get multiroom with Horizon but remember seeing something about just hooking up a Sky box to cable/sat and you would get freeview channels? Is this correct? I know I wouldn't be able to record but that is grand. Do I need anything else to get this working?

Pull the card from your sky box and you will see which channels you will receive, you can also tune in utv in other channels. I am using an old UK sky card and I'm getting a nice selection of channels on the planner, 101 is bbc1, 102 bbc2 and so on.

No, RTE is subscription only. There are some kids channels but not a lot. When the card is out check e4 and BBC, they are free, just keep flicking through the channels and non sub channels will come through.

Not sure what you mean? can I get rid of the rest of the channels so I dont have to browse them?

You'll need to check how your house is cabled for TV. You'll need to be able to handle both your cable TV connection and your satellite connection to the different boxes.

Replacing one of your Sky boxes with a combined Saorview/freesat receiver might be worth considering.

Use your Sky box to get free UK channels from Astra2. Save up to 50 favourites on the blue button.

Add Irish TV channels via an aerial and a saorview receiver.

as another poster says, consider getting a combi box. You have the dish already.

    Thanks for help....

Just thinking, can I get a Soarview/Freeview combi box and connect it to the Sky connection to get channels?

There are Saorview/FTA satellite combi receivers (Freeview is the UK terrestrial service via an aerial).

Sat dish required for the FTA channels and aerial required for the Saorview channels. 7 day guide available for the Saorview channels but only now and next info for the FTA satellite channels. FTA sat channels stored in no particular order together with duplicate channels.

    Examles of combi receivers - http://www.tvtrade.ie/satellite-receivers/combo-receivers.html, http://satellite.ie/acatalog/Ferguson_ariva_120_installed.html

No, the Sky dish will be OK to use with the combi receiver.
