Car Advice

Hi I want some advice on a car. So basically I moved abroad for work at the beginning of the year after college and sold my previous cars. Now I’ll be home in Ireland for about four months a year and I’d like a car when I’m here. I won’t be using it for commuting, just for getting around so I don’t care too much about fuel efficiency. I know the obvious choice is a small 1.4 petrol or something but I’m not interested in a car like that. I’d like something a little special so I was thinking of a classic car so I don’t get taxed heavily for car I won’t use that much. So far I’ve thought of a Porsche 944 or a BMW 635 csi or maybe a 528 but I’d like some other suggestions. Basically keep the following in mind:
    Budget: €5000-€7000
It needs to be a classic car for the tax so 1984 or older. I would like it to be from the 70’s or 80’s era for some modern comforts and safety. (modern brakes etc.)
With classic tax engine size doesn’t matter so no limit there.
MPG not important but let’s try and keep it north of 20.
It won’t be a daily driver but I want it to be reasonably practical. I had an MGB roadster and I do not consider that a practical car.
I know service costs will be more but again my mileage will be limited so I’m willing to pay these costs in exchange for a more enjoyable car.
I’m willing and probably will end up going to the UK for a decent model.
I have no kids or wife so a two seater is fine.
I know this is a classic car question but I thought it would get more responses in this forum. Mods can move it if they want.
