Has anyone any experience of this?

I am due in Friday for an arthroscopy due to a meniscal tear, I also am getting the prepatellar bursa removed. I hope to be back golfing in April for the Barton.

Any details of your experience would be appreciated.

I am not looking for medical advice just other people's experiences.

I had most of my cartilage removed from my right knee a couple of years ago. I took 2 months off golf altogether to give the rehab a chance of working properly. April is going to be tight I'd say.
    Good luck with it

At a guess I'd say April will be tight. FWIW I had a hip arthroscopy in late November and the physios in Sports surgery clinic told me six to eight months out, the knee might be we'll be different. Be guided by the experts though, no point in risking it for the sake of a few weeks.

I only posted here to wish you well and a speedy recovery but don't under any circumstances hurry back.

I'd have taken a more pessimistic view golf wise than the consultant offered while doing all the physio needed to maximise recovery.

I never did my knee but having returned to a different sport with other injuries my Physio always recommended returning stronger than before going off hurt. Personally that sentence always stuck with me.

Had a Popliteal Bursa aspirated from my left knee four weeks ago. Pain in knee joint lasted approximate 10 days.

Playing 18 today for first time. Haven't played mainly due to the weather.

My procedure is obviously different to yours but a friend of mine had your op done. I can't remember his timescale but what I do know is he pulled his hammy on first round back. You need to keep the support muscle groups ticking over so make sure the Physio include these for rehab.

I had the bursa aspirated in December. Came back up straight away. My hamstring and calf are sore at the minute.

    Solid advice

Was your bursa as a result of the tear? My consultant reckons my knee is in good shape at the moment.

Had a meniscal tear a few years back and was told similar
Op was later in the year in August so I was told play away in October by the consultant
**** weather and baby arriving made it easy for me to stay at home till the new year,I was also a little nervous as it was my left knee and I was afraid of getting my weight over on it,also had to be at work unfortunately not at a desk

I took a long term view
Did a bit in the pool for rehab

Every op and patient are different
Never interfered with my golf since
But always in a little discomfort if standing still for too long

3 knee ops done, all I can say is do the physio to strengthen the leg before attempting to play golf. If you can't do the exercises to regain movement and strength then golf is a non runner. The 3rd op was cartilage on a knee I'd previously torn my cruciate and because I was experienced in the recovery exercises and time frame involve I was back swinging a club 4-5 weeks later. Having a physio therapist as a partner helps ;-)
    Best of luck

Had two meniscal tear ops and another 3 knee procedures, after the tear ops I was playing 4 weeks after without issue, do your exercises in the first few days, it makes a big difference to recovery time.
    Good luck!

Broke my kneecap, fibia & tibia playing gaa in 2011. Took 7 months before I was back playing. On the upside, following some pretty intense physio (dry needling sucks balls!!) and months of gym work my leg muscles are stronger than ever & more importantly my left and right legs perfectly balanced...
Most important thing is to set yourself up with a good physio that understands knee injuries, you surgeon may be able to recommend someone. Best if luck with the op and recovery..
