Dispute over postage.

I ordered a dash cam for my car from here

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181325194215?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

The seller claims to be UK but had to wait 2 weeks for delivery to parcel motel.

The dispute is over the camera. The GW1 cam is the best in its price range. They have been cloned by many producers but all have the same specs.

The camera that arrived looked nearly exactly like the GW1 cam but the specs on the camera are not correct as per listing.

It is a very very cheap intimation with incorrect software and chipset. Plus the functions advertised on listings are not on the camera.
I want to return it for my money back but I am not prepared to pay postage as it was mis-advertised to me .

He insists in registered post .

I don't think I should be out of pocket at all from this scam artist.

How will this go for me?

if you have no luck with the resolution center on ebay you could always open a dispute with paypal to get a refund.

There is a cheaper option for return with parcel motel .

If both buyer and seller have a PM account , you can return and he will have to pay the return cost in order for him to accept the package at his PM depot .

Contact Parcel Motel for more details .

The only way you can force the seller to refund you is to dispute the item in Paypal and they will ask you to return the item by trackable means.

As an aside, I would never have bought from that seller as the feedback is terrible and it shows they are based in Singapore

i'd have no problem buying from singapore, hong kong etc. It might take a bit longer to get here but i've never had any problems, in fact the only paypal dispute i've had was with an irish seller.

and is a positive feedback of 98% really that terrible?

    With those volumes? Yes.

Also anything bought from HK/Asia is by definition a knock off; nothing wrong with that per say (I've bought plenty of standard stuff like cables etc. that way) but if you expected a original from UK you might not be overly happy.
