Tone ring replacement / abs problem

    Hey Guys,

My abs is firing constantly at slow speeds and I am having to gently apply my handbrake not to tip people in stop start traffic :-/

I yanked the abs fuse for safety (irony not lost) but now my abs and handbrake lights are on, which is annoying.
I'm presuming it's a cracked tone ring or crenelated ring or whatever it's called.
Any first hand stories of what it will cost me to replace? 03 Santa fe btw

    What fault codes are recorded?

    No fault codes recorded.

It seems to think the failure is the wheels genuinely slipping which is why I presume the tone ring is at fault

As far as I know those bluetooth obd adaptors won't pick up abs faults. You need to get them read.

If you don't want to do that then start by jacking up the car and checking the abs reluctor rings for cracks, if your abs is kicking in though I'd say it's more likely to be a missing tooth, all the easier to spot.
Be a lot quicker to get someone with an abs coder to check the faults though.

Sorry dopey sleepy head on me, if it is the reluctor ring they aren't a big job. Drive shaft does have to come out but that's 90% of the hard work. Expect 2-3 hours labour.

You need dealer level diagnostic equipment to help isolate and identify problem.

You need someone who can read the individual wheel speed sensors, selonoid output readings and ABS pump output readings.

Post the county you're in and some one here might be able to help.
