10 years ago when I moved from the smoke I was told that my local gun club was closed., My nearest fields was 300 yards away from my front door, not surprised Dub out of town.. yet on my first application 1 parish over I got in to a neighbouring club & have been there since.
I have never seen or heard a shot on my local ground,in any season game or vermin.
There is huge sheep farming in my locality, & there is a huge amounts of lambs on the ground which is nice to see.
On the way to work this am, I met a local farmer, stopped to have a chat & he told me he had to persue 4 foxes this week!, I asked about the local gun club & he said he never sees them, I asked his permission to lamp to help him with foxes & he was delighted and got me 3 more local farmer permissions, who needed help, yet again the cr*p local gun clubs put in your way and yet again they are nov - jan gun clubs!..
    I dont care , rather a fox than 20 phesants.. :)

I must start a bit of foxing again, wasn't out for a couple of years now.
Sent in a letter asking for permission to use a gen 2+ night vision scope , should be interesting on the reply.

There is a lot of inactive clubs around especially when it comes to vermin control.

Should NARGC do more to encourage clubs/members to be more active especially on vermin control.

The NARGC have a vermin competition each year for clubs, good cash prizes

Foxes are on the up all over western Yoorup. My pal Dave, yakkin' in the club last night, told me he'd shot ELEVEN last week on just two of the farms he has for night-shooting.

My granddaughter sent me a iphone pic of a dog fox in her backyard - right in the milddle of a pretty large village. At THREE o'clock in the afternoon.

Here in UK 'pest control' is one of the 'good reasons' to get a rifle license - depending on where you live, of course...

Fair play. Plenty of those clubs around blocking land and doing noting with it.

If you need a lamp man give me a shout I'm only across the road from you.

NARGC competion not working to get blanket coverage of the country.
It's almost pointless if one club does a total clean up of vermin and two neighbouring club do very little.
The hard working club will be repopulated in no time.

New initatives needed by NARGC to get all clubs working.

Think I'd rather a roast pheasant than a roast fox

The NARGC have put a limit on the monies paid out to €1000 per club for the vermin count. It's good money if you can get it but a big club would nearly give them that much in affiliation fees. Maybe it's time they started giving a little more back!
