TV satellite feed not working

I have a dish with a quad LNB, two of the feeds went into my Humax HDR. I just got a LG TV with a sat tuner so I took one of the coax feeds and put it in the TV. However the TV sat tuner won't work unless I have the Humax box switched on. Does a LNB need power and the TV is not providing it and the Humax does. Also the TV gets FTA stations is there a way of getting Freesat stations on it

There are no "Freesat stations". Freesat is an add-on service whose purpose is to make satellite TV viewing user-friendly, like Sky only free. The "stations" are free-to-air anyway.

I would have thought LNB power would be on by default on the TV: you can check in the satellite setting option menu.

I think only Panasonic and Samsung do Freesat TVs, the LG may only do FTA sat. Check the TV's manual or do a UK first-time install, if available the Freesat option will only be available this way.

As Ronnie say above there should be an LNB Voltage option in the satellte settings menu, my Sony combi TV has 3 options 13/18V, 14/19V or Off. 13/18V (or On, depending on the TV) will be the correct options.

The LNB needs power, yes but, the 4 outputs should be independent in this respect. Switching the Humax receiver on or off should have no effect on the TV.

What you are describing looks more like the Humax only has 1 feed from the dish, LNB2 is fed from LNB1-out &, you've used this 'loopthrough' feed for the TV.

No I had 2 leads from the LNB to both inputs of the Humax so as to be able to record one channel and watch another. I took one of these feeds and put it in the TV it is not a loop through feed and comes straight from the LNB. I also checked the TV settings to check that the power to dish was switched on

Obviously, it shouldn't be working like that. I suppose you could try 1 of the other LNB outputs & see how it behaves.

I cant do much as this room has the two feeds but the other two go to two single imput boxes in other rooms in the house. i might try swapping the feeds around between the Humax and TV
