Privacy International sends a letter querying the department’s knowledge of IMSI catchers. They'll be publishing the reply if they get one.

As Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, I am sure you are eager to ensure Irelands communications infrastructure cannot be abused by a malicious party with a device (IMSI catcher) that is so cheap and readily available. Accordingly, are you developing guidance for State bodies, businesses, solicitors, doctors, and Irish citizens to prevent them from falling victim to an IMSI Catcher?
Furthermore, what regulatory actions are you capable of taking to ensure Irish Mobile Phone operators and mobile phone manufacturers and other related companies deliver secure mobile communications for everyone in Ireland?
