Worried about depression

Hello, I'm a 22 year old male. I would consider myself confident and overall a happy person, maybe even a little hyper. I don't take anything too seriously but at the same time, but don't consider myself emphatic.

I suffer from impotence due to venous leak, which I've had since I was in my mid teens and wasn't diagnosed with until I was 21. As a result I have a low sex drive.
I lived with my ex-girlfriend, and yet was not emotionally attached to her.
I have developed chronic allergies over the last few years also, which affects me all year round.
I am affected by exhaustion, fatigue, disturbed sleep as well as inability to sleep.
I can have a short temper, and at situations can be easily irritable which can lead me to become physically violent.

However, most concerning for me is lack of motivation and inability to concentrate. For my leaving certificate, I used to do after school study every day, but could never focus. I did three years in college, which on all three occasions I failed due to lack of attendance. I have a high aptitude but continually underachieve.

I'm now in a new course which I enjoy and am very interested in, but the same is happening to me again. I never thought of the possibility that I could be suffering from something such as depression, but my parents are worried, as my sister was recently diagnosed, and was having similar problems in her studies at college.

    Hi OP

Nobody here has the knowledge to turn around to you and tell you if you are suffering from depression or not - the best advice I can give you is to try and see your GP as soon as you can, and explain to him how you feel, pretty much as you've just done here. Print out this thread and bring it with you if you think it'll make things easier. HE may then refer you to someone with more expertise.

In the meantime, there are some organisations, as listed in our forum charter, that have the expertise to deal with depression, and may be able to help. Even if it's just to talk to someone, it may help you decide on the course of action you want to take.

    Good luck.

TwistedFate, Please don't open multiple threads in a short period of time, as per our charter.

This thread, along with your other one is locked as what you are asking can only really be answered by a visit to your GP. Please read the Site Rules here, especially the section regarding seeking medical advice.

Also read the Charter of any forum you wish to post in. Each forum has it's own rules, and breaches regularly result in moderator action.
