    :confused:Hi
Wondering if someone can help fill me in . Been looking to order a new car, make model etc all sorted, so ready to buy buy buy..
I'm planning on going around few garages at the weekend so want an understanding to get the best deal.

How much should I be looking for as a discount off the rrp?
Do you get a better discount off rrp if not trading in ?
Do discounts off rrp depend on the garage so it it worth the time ringing / calling around to them?

Discounts vary across brands, and of course you'll get a better price not trading in.

    What you looking at?

See if you can get a pre reg deal if buying a new car, i ended up getting nealry 5k off the price no trade in and got some dscounts up front

    standard though is 6%

Qashqai is probably the most in demand new cars at the moment. I wouldn't expect any bargains.

Was that a new qashqai or different brand?

Dealers can play hard ball regarding who they sell the new Qashqai to, demand is that strong. You might do better if you are buying one in an odd spec or colour that is already in stock.

As already said, the discount can vary across brands. I know a Merc salesman who ordered in a new Hyundai for an existing customer. The same dealership also ran a Hyundai showroom, so he could order it directly himself. He was amazed at how much he could discount it down on the list price, while still maintaining a healthy margin, having been used to the Mercedes small discount window.

Irrespective of allowable discount however, the demand factor also plays a part. Having recently purchased a Kia Ceed whilst also looking at the Hyundai i30, I got the best discounts from the Kia dealership despite the fact that both cars are built on the same body, so have to presume that both companies could offer similar enough discounts. The fact was however that the Hyundai dealers didn't give as much, nor were they as accommodating in terms of callbacks/test drives etc. The reason being that the i30 market share is a lot higher than that of the Ceed. The Hyundai dealers don't need to give big discounts due to demand, and I think you will find the same thing with your Qashqai.

    There is no standard.

In terms of % discount you might well get plenty off a run out model with low demand, and relatively little off a new model which is in demand.

Still can't get my head around why a Nissan Qashkai would be so popular.

On a new Qashqai, you'd be lucky to get more than a few hundred discount. Demand is so high that anything coming for stock is sold before it arrives, and dealers don't need to discount them, as someone will pay full whack while there is big demand.
