Wifi dropping on Horizon

    Hi,

I upgraded Horizon and I am having awful wifi problems with it since Day 1 of getting it. My Wifi just keeps dropping, which never happened before on the old Cisco and Thomson modem

Even if I am in the same room only a few feet from the Horizon box, I can have 2 laptops open and one will lose internet - the 2nd doesn't. Then later on the 2nd will lose wifi but the first won't.

The wireless connection meter will show as connected but "Limited connection", and I can't even ping the routers IP address in command line. The only way of resolving it is to forcefully Disconnect and then Reconnect - this fixes it until the issue happens again.

Working from home today I have had to do this about 10 times so far, other times I am on a VOIP call with work and the call will cut out as if I am disconnected but will then fix itself, so it seems to be dropping far more than I am noticing.

I've tried changing the band from 20/40 to 20 Mghz, I've tried changing channel from Auto to channel 1 and others (there are no clear channels in this apartment block - but it never was a problem for the old modem). I've tried lowering Power from 100 to 60, that didn't help either...

    is it a broken box?

Yep me too, have a house of 7 and randomly only one of the laptops will lose internet at a time. We haven't a clue why to be honest. Every now and then it just cuts. Very annoying. Would be interested what solution would work. We just flick internet off for 20 seconds and turn back on and it normally works for a the day then

Same problem UPC just sent me out a Cisco modem/router today. They call disconsolidation basically it just means not using the built in WiFi/modem in the horizon box.

Same problem - since they swapped me to a Technicolor modem.

Curious, when they do this does this mean the Horizon internet features stop working? E.g. the Youtube and other apps on the Horizon tv box? Or will they still be able to connect to the net ok?

Glad to see I'm not alone with this issue, shame there doesn't seem to be a solution other than to ask for a new modem... kinda defeats the whole point of Horizon :/

I get its a new service.. but.. its not really, they've had it in Netherlands for quite a while, so silly issues like a lot of the issues we see in Horizon shouldn't exist
