Afaik its much the same as an overall Dept inspection.
They will check the milking premises for cleanliness, same as old dairy inspection.
They will check the records and animal remedies and storage of them.
They will measure slurry storage and make sure you have enough for the animals you have.
They will check your cow numbers and make sure you have a cubicle for every cow.
You will be marked in every section and you have to reach a pass grade (60%?) overall to get approved. There are sections you will have to get 100% on like the paperwork/animal remedies to pass as well.

I believe there will be more details released soon before inspections begin.

Thanks, a few other questions. When does it have to be completed? Is it tied to cross compliance?

my renewal for beef and lamb isn't due until early 2015 , so I won't be applying for dairy until I get the notice,

it is separate from cross compliance, but a good indicator

auditors differ but I have never heard of one actually measuring the slurry storage

anaimal remedy records is a big issue , farm safety etc

have a look here when you get a chance

The checklist runs to about 170 questions afaik.
Animal remedies,H+S,Bait Plan,Receipts for every bulk load or bag of meal brought onto the farm,
Is the cat/dog wormed etc etc,Two and a half hour inspection at minimum.
We had a short chat about it at our last discussion group meeting quite a few have no intention of taking part in it(including myself).

Not sure if you will have a choice, It may well be the dairy's will stop taking milk or pay less for it like the story with beef. My understanding is that it will be virtually compulsory.

Iirc you will have 3 years to comply fully with housing requirements but it will be 'compulsory' in so far as you will get heavily penalised by milk price deductions.

All compulsory EU regulations will have to be fully followed and the other requirements will mostly have to be done or rectified within a specified time.

Dairygold will pay a small bonus 0.1 c/l for QA milk.
They will not refuse to collect milk from non QA suppliers as of now,but i think you are probably right in saying we may not have a choice in future.
