I am with eircom and getting max 1.7mb

Has anyone switched to Sky Connect for rural areas and gotten improved reliable speeds ?
They claim I should get improved speeds with their equipment

Unlikely as Sky will be using the same eircom line to your house and eircom will have more backhaul to the exchange than Sky. I suggest ringing eircom to see if they can increase your speed first before you do anything.
