Hi folks, im unemployed, married with one child. we recieve jsa for a family of three and rent supplement.
thing is the wages for the job offer is 450 gross per week less than my jsa and rent supplement combined.
If i accept the job offer will i be able to keep some benefits as 450euro for a family of three per week is not economically viable i.e rent food bills etc.

    any advice much appreciated.

    thanks.

    Will you claim FIS?

    Is the job full time?

I'm struggling to see how such a massive gap can exist, jsa for a person with an adult dependant and one child and rent supplement per week I cannot imagine goes above anywhere close to exceeding a job by that much per week (jsa of 188 + adult dependant rate of 124.80 + child of 29.80 = 342.60 and max rent allowance in Dublin for a 2 bed is 950 per month so that's another €219 max (not including the 35 paid by the tenant so in total that's 541.60 per week net.

On min. wage, you'd gross 346 for a 40 hour week, which nets out at 335 weekly and would get FIS of 506 - 335 = 171 * .6 so total net income would be 335 + 102.6 = 437.60 so a difference of approx. 105 per week.

Is the 450 per week a typo?

Its alot quicker then it use to be, 2 to 4 weeks now, but it is back dated, 4 weeks wage slips is required, but you can send form in on first week to start claim, then send slips as you get them, not too sure about the rent allowance.

So that implies you will be paid 60 per week on the net difference?

Makes no sense to me whatsoever, you have to be paid min. wage.

How does it stack up compared to the figures I've posted?

Where are you otherwise losing out once you factor in FIS?

I believe Op is saying he will make 450 a week and that this is less than what he gets on benefits.

Ah I took his statement that his pay would be 450 less than his benefits literally then.

That means then that his difference is probably the €105 approx that I posted so the benefit of him working is marginal unless they perceive it as an opportunity to gain experience and move on

I think hes concern will he lose the Rent supplement with 450 - tax with FIS.
These days 450 aweek wouldnt be a bad wage, €11.25hr, i would go for it.

I'd too, OP in their cirumstance will still qualify for a fis payment to ease the burden
