Looking to buy my first "real" road bike, had a Giant FCR beforehand and am now ready to make the plunge after getting hooked by cycling!

I will be using the BTW scheme and have narrowed it down to these 2 bikes, just looking for some input to steer me the right direction.

    Canyon Roadlite 6.0:

    Radon R1 4.0:

Both have carbon forks and built around Shimano's 105 groupset except the Radon has a Tiagra cassette and chain.

Leaning towards the Canyon at the moment any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Canyon is full 105 but slightly heavier. I have the 2013 version. I'd happily buy it again

Did you check the Canyon Outlet section? There is a Roadlite Al 7.0 2011 with Ultegra 6700 for €949.

I bought the older version of that Radon a few years ago. Great bike, but the only gripe I have with it is there very short head tubes. Not an issue if you're flexible but if not, the canyon will be comfier. Also be careful with sizing, a 58cm Canyon is actually closer to a 60cm Radon.

    Cheers for the replies.

I checked the outlet but the ones available in my size are too far over budget.

Think it's settled, Canyon it is!

I will update the thread when I get it.

    Thanks again for your input.

Hi, both of these can only be bought direct from Germany I thought ? Might put an end to your idea of using the BTW scheme.

Thankfully my employer is not going through a 3rd party and so I only have to point the HR department in the right direction.

I bought the Canyon with SRAM on the BTW scheme. The taxman doesn't care where you buy your bike, but your employer might.

Love the Canyon by the way.

all you need to give your employer is a receipt (used the company cc to buy it) or an invoice. Its simples

from a non-biased (as in I don't own either) point of view, it think the black Radon looks unbelievably sexy, especially at that price.

Canyon do the BTW scheme. Canyon send "an invoice" (Can't recall the exact name. Pro Forma?) and your employer can transfer the money to them.

I bought my bike from Canyon that way.

Delivery was about a week after they got the money.

Just check the build log. Some times what you want is in stock and then its a 2-3 week turnaround. Some times its on the build log and depending on the week it could be a while. I got the last Al in my size and the next build log was a couple of weeks away. Almost cancelled my order over it. Glad I didnt in the end

Mine was built to order and was estimated at 5 weeks but actually arrived in less than 4. It was the first of the 2014's and I ordered it in August. Kept me updated via email though the process; excellent service IMO.

    Thread here.
