Can anyone give me an idea how much a Network Engineer should be earning starting off in amedium size IT company.

General typical duties including Server install, AD admin and some work with routers and switches.

I have a CCNA and will have some MS Server certs by year end. Not a whole lot of experience but a fast learner and techinally minded.

Seriously? That's far less than what I get at the minute just in a semi management role.

Server install, AD admin and some work with routers and switches.

that's a fairly junior days work

and not a network engineer either

There's a bit more than basic admin involved in it probably under sold it there. Also includes stuff like GPO, DFS, multi site networking, backup solutions etc.

Was also basing my guesses on this recent survey of salaries. http://www.brightwater.ie/documents/brightwater_salary_surveys_ROI_2014.pdf

You don't have any experience and a very basic networking cert. Sounds more like a career change for you tbh, don't expect to walk into great money. If you get a CCNP, pick up some security/firewall certs and get the experience you can't start asking for more money.

I'd say 30k max. with no experience tbh and that's generous
