    Hi darylf,

Aer Lingus, Ryanair, Cityjet, Shannon Aerospace, Aer Arann/Aer Lingus Regional,Dublin Aerospace and Aer Atlanta (spelling?) all run Aircraft Mechanic apprenticeship schemes. They usually start advertising from April until August beginning with Aer Atlanta last year in late April as far as I can remember. Junior Cert minimum (but there are a lot of people applying with trade qualifications and/or Aeronautical degrees)

It is quite tough to get into, for example i think last year there were 1500 applicants for the 15 Aer Lingus apprenticeships.

Aer Lingus are the only company I know of offering cadetships (Airline Pilot training)

There are a lot of very experienced guys on this forum http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=905 that would have a lot more accurate (and more useful)information than I do.

Last but not least, depending on your age, have you thought about the Air Corps?

    K

Apprenticeships usually start being advertised around may/June time. there's a lot of airlines that run these schemes and as far as I know you only need a junior cert. Regarding the cadet
Programme, this is extremely intense and very difficult to get a spot. you would need a good leaving cert with a good maths result, preferable higher level. there's a scheme going on at the moment in relation to Irish going to Germany and learning a trade over.there with work placement. Might be worth looking into
