    No no no.

A 770 gtx is not going to handle 1440p gaming well at all. At the very least you want to be getting a R9 290 with the view of adding a second one in future.

With your budget you could easily fit one in as well as a crossfire board and a psu up to the task. It will take some shuffling of funds and and buying the parts from a cheaper supplier.

    Thanks for the feedback. :)
The review on Hexus seems to conflict with what you are saying about handling 1440p though
Handles gaming at 1080p and 1440p

Also in the majority of games tested, it ran over 50 FPS?

You should be judging it on the next gen graphically demanding games like Crysis 3 which it barely scrapes 30 fps on.

I have an overclocked 7970 which if anything is stronger than a 770gtx and it struggles with Crysis 3 on max settings at 1080p never mind 1440p.

2gb of graphics memory will not be enough for 1440p either. The 290 has 4gb.

Once proper next gen games start coming out and not ones that are compromised to work on older consoles you will see the difference. Thief is good example. Next gen game compromised to work on older consoles and only using the Unreal 3 engine instead of the Unreal 4 engine.

A single 770 can run 1440p at reasonable frame rates in a lot of games. Just don't be expecting to run crysis 3 at 60+ fps with ultra settings. Or bf4 either.

I ran 1440p with a single gtx 670 (roughly 10% weaker than the 770) for about 9 months and it was fine. It ran the less demanding games (like Skyrim) at ultra settings including AA at 60+ fps steady. Played through crysis with mostly max settings (except for AA) with 50+ fps easily.

No matter what way you look at it imo it would be a huge mistake spending 1500 on a gaming rig and only putting a 770 gtx in it especially for 1440p.

If you find turning settings down to medium and not getting a solid 60fps with dips below 30 acceptable then that's fine. I don't.

This has the option to add a second R9 290 as well down the line to keep games maxed out at 1440P as it very demanding with the powersupply and motherboard I selected.

A GTX 770 is not a good card for 1440P at all! Its fine if you don't mind playing some games on medium. It will not run the next generation games very good at all.

Slightly over budget when adding the Qnix

That's a great build right there. I'd opt for the cheapest ram you can get though.

    Makes no odds to performance.
