How to structure a job with a builder

    Hi folks,

We're engaging a builder to do work (bring down walls, install new insulated platerboards etc).

Would appreciate advice in how I proceed with the job.

Ie. I've mentioned insurance and he said he's happy to give his details for me to verify.

Is there a template for how to ask all these questions? Like requesting the list of works in writing, insurance details in writing, cost breakdown in writing etc.

    Thanks
    Quad

An architect or engineer would be able to give you a contract - clearly outlining the builder duties on all that you require.

They will also advise you on appropriate insulation boards / systems, and on the proposed design.

Sounds like you want a Bill of Quantities prepared. Have you engaged a Quantity Surveyor?
