Yes, any Freesat receiver will work in Ireland connected to a satellite dish pointing at 28 degs. east, it will work with a Sky dish also.

A point to note with the receiver in that particular link, they refer to it as a Freesat+ (PVR/recorder) receiver. It's not. It is a single tuner Freesat receiver.

    The Freesat+ (twin-tuner PVR/recorder) version costs a bit more - http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/digital-boxes/humax-hdr-1000s/

Isn't the freetime aspect of it somewhat useless in Ireland, catch up services not really working in Ireland, or was I misinformed.

Yes I believe that's correct but Humax Freesat receivers are highly recommended nonetheless.

The Manhattan Plaza HDR-S (recorder) is also well recommended and cheaper - http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/digital-boxes/manhattan-plaza-hdr-s/

On first install you're asked for a UK postcode, the BBC and ITV regional channels are then stored based on that postcode together with the other channels. Very user friendly and easy to setup, 7 day epg etc.

    Channels - http://www.freesat.co.uk/channels

All Freesat receivers have the 7 day epg, are you referring to FTA satellite receivers?

The Freesat spec is basically the 7 day epg and logical channel ordering and FTA channels pay an annual fee for this. The channels are still available via a FTA sat receiver with now&next info but without a broadcast epg.
