    Hi,
I'm newish to this board. My husbands car is needing repair but we actually don't need it anymore so rather than put money into it have decided to get rid of it. We want to do it legally but don't know how to go about selling it or have a garage come and take it. It's an 02 fiat seicento with 60,000 miles. Timing belt is gone on it.
Any advice on who would take it (a bit of cash would good) or how we can sell it would be much appreciated!
    Thanks

You will get better price if you fix it.
Broken cars in Ireland are worth nothing.
It shouldn't cost much to put a new timing belt on the seicento.

    Is the car NCTed?

    899cc is chain driven.
No other engines than 899cc and 1.1 were ever used in seicento.

Is it an SX or Sporting?

How much did they quote you for fixing it?

    Yeap, that's what I meant. 899 and 1108.
Only 1.1 is belt driven, so this must be it.

SX also came with 1.1 btw.

sporting would nearly be worth fixing,

AFAIK late SX models were 1.1 here. Friend had one.

    SX as well.

If timing belt snapped, fixing the problem is just getting new belt, possibly new tensioner and an hour or two of labour.
1.1 is a non-collision engine, so snapped timing belt just needs replacing. No damage to the engine.

Yes, didn't they have a non interference engine so the TB snapping would not do any damage to the engine? I'd get a quote to replace the TB before deciding what to let it go for. Might well be inexpensive to replace and the car would sell for more with it repaired.
