We were talking about the beet about a month ago on here, did you end up going down the fodder beet route in the end Con ?

No, for two reasons that wouldn't put me against it in the future.

    1. No access on my farm for such a delivery, I need to put in a road.
    2. Not enough sheep to justify a 15 or 18 ton load.

It's spoken of fairly highly on most forums, I'd love to give it a go to be honest.

If the hay is good quality it would keep them. A few whole oats wouldn't break the bank.. Are they in lamb?

Ya, I did a lot of looking into it as well, but ended up getting a load of silage instead. There are no growers of it in my area and couldn't justify 20 tonnes of it, just to try it out. If I was better set up though I think it would be an excellent feed for the sheep.
