The Classics season is about to kick off.

The Omloop is this coming Saturday, 1st March

    Woo-hoo......!

Not only is it the start of the season, but this year, the Omloop features the Muur-Kapelmuur dropped from the Ronde two years ago. Woo-hoo indeed!

More at http://www.omloophetnieuwsblad.be/ or just wait for @dastardly00 to get his thread up..... :P

Great race, well worth finding the highlights somewhere. I watched the last 80km or so live and was very entertaining.

Damn, none of the 400 links would work for me today, not sure why Eurosport weren't covering it ! They actually have tomorrow's race, and it's repeated a gazillion times according to their schedule.

Stannard could be the man to back in the upcoming races, he's very strong.

Plenty of clips of the action (all in Dutch, mind) at the official broadcasters summary of the event:

What was that about enforcing the rules about staying on the road?

23km to go, 1min ahead, you'd have to fancy
    Boonen
    at this stage.

You know, even though its an apples v oranges comparison, I think these classics are much more interesting and fun to watch than the GTs. Dunno why.

I think from a pure racing point of view there's no contest, the classics every time. However the sense of 'big occasion' really adds to the excitement of the GT's though.

Yep, the classics are definitely more exciting. Kuurne - Brussels - Kuurne yesterday won by Boonen.

I'm heading over for E3 Harelbeke and Ghent - Wevelgem at the end of the month.

I'll be taking myself to the Tour of Flanders museum in Oudenaarde and also take a look at the velodrome in Roubaix.
Everywhere is less than an hour away

Hopefully get to see a good head to head between Boonen and Cancellara as well :-)

i've only seen this thread now!
I was away at the weekend so I didn't get to see any of K-B-K on Eurosport. I have it recorded so I'm looking forward to seeing cycling back in Europe!

It's looking like Nico will be taking part in Strade Bianche and Tirreno-Adriatico.

Dan martin and Sam Bennett are also lined up to race in Tirreno-Adriatico.

And Paris-Nice is going to be fairly boring :(

As far as I remember Nico has wanted to do well in Paris Nice and the first year in a while he is not in it it looks like he could have had a chance !! Irony

Apart from Niabali, Van Garderen and Porte the field is limited

No TTs , which is a shame ....possibly to deter Froome from walking it - but he was never going to enter anyway

Looks like all the action will be in Tirreno Adriatico
